Salentein, Malbec
This brilliant purple hued wine of great intensity and depth exudes personality with aromas of ripe plums, blackberries and a soft touch of vanilla and tobacco typical of aging in French oak barrels. With its complex mouth-feel, ripe red berry appeal and sweet tannins characteristic of this variety, the Salentein Malbec 2004 is a well-structured wine of balanced acidity and a long finish. This wine will age nicely for seven years.

Pirie Pinot Gris 2006
Pale gold but with Pinot Gris’ tell-tale slight bronze stain, the nose is a heady concoction of exotic spices and potpourri. In the mouth, the wine has good weight and a velvety texture, but is dry and clean on the finish.

Pirie Estelle 2006
Estelle Thompson was the real name of the Tasmanian born, almond- eyed movie star, Merle Oberon. Full of rumour and controversy, her life story reads like a film script. This exotic and enticingly aromatic white wine is a fitting tribute to one of Tasmania’s most enduring characters. Pale lemon/gold, the bouquet shows lavender and citrus blossom. The palate is softly textured and mouth-filling while still remaining delicate with fine acidity bringing length but not dominating.

Pirie Pinot Noir 2006
Vibrantly colourful in the glass, aromas of black cherry and raspberry develop rapidly over background hints of kirsch chocolate liqueurs. Gentle tannins and subtle oak provide support for a juicy, fruits-of-the-forest middle palate with fresh acidity leading to a clean, dry finish. Age 1-3 years and serve in a big glass to capture the perfume.
